Want to take your social dancing to the Medalist level?
We have designed this class to help those who want to master Ballroom dancing for any age or skill level. If you're new to dancing you'll start in the Leisure class and work your way up through Leisure 1, Leisure 2, and Leisure 3 medals (the 7:00-8:00pm class).
At which point you'll be able to attend the Bronze + class from 8:00-9:00pm. If you've done medals before in another studio, you'll need to check with us which class you've danced with before.
All Medals are regulated under the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Association I.S.T.D London, England. There are internationally recognized and a prestigious achievement for all candidates to participate in.
Classes are just $25 per person for pay as you go dancing or you can register on this page for the class and get a FREE class (8 classes for the price of 7 - save $30). We will then give you an 8 Dance Card which is valid for any Adult class and flexible to your lifestyle.
Just use it within 6 months.

New enrollment for 2018 starting for the Wednesday evening Medal class. The ideal way to enhance your dancing, learn the finer technique and participate in our 2018 Medal.
This is an exciting and enjoyable class for students who pursue perfection in Ballroom dancing and want to learn the correct technique, posture, and syllabus. It's highly rewarding for all adult ages groups and no experience neccessary.
Note: You must have completed through our Medal system to be eligible for the appropriate class. Please see teacher pertaining to exams hosted outside of the studio for your eligibility here.
Welcome and you are invited to be part of one of our most popular classes. Experience is not necessary because we will help you become the best dancer you can be. You'll also make a lot of friends along the way.
Note: If you're brand new to Medals (as in: never completed an exam before) then we have created a special 6pm class on the Wednesday evenings that you can come to.

How is The International Dance Studio recognized?
We have a long history in providing quality dance instruction to Canberra and in our 4 year history we have successfully passed over 400 medal candidates under the Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dance (I.S.T.D), London U.K, syllabus.
This is an internationally recognized society that founded the principles of Ballroom and Latin dancing. We are accredited under DanceSport Australia and conduct examinations under the Federal Association of the Teacher of Dance in Australia (F.A.T.D).
The directors of the studio, Vaughan and Alison are both 3 times World Professional 10 Dance Representatives, Australian Professional Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue finalists at National Championships. They have also completed all their Medal Examinations to the highest level and are Accredited teachers.
If your goal is to take your dancing to the highest level then Medal Exams are the starting point to excellent dancing. In the history of all outstanding dancers you will find that Medal Exams were an integral part of their success.
We invite you to participate in our exams and would be honored to share our rich heritage of Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue principles, technique and tradition.
What if I have done Medals in another studio?
We will take that into account and assess your level according to our standard. Each studio generally will have different standards and grading's. We want to make sure you are in the appropriate category so you do the best medal you can with us.
When are exams held?
We only conduct exams once per year, in November. Dates announced at beginning of New Year.
Is there a separate cost to exams?
Yes. Each medal you do has a cost to it which covers bringing a highly qualified examiner from interstate, hire, medal costs, administration and other expenses.
How are the classes operated?
- Wednesday 7-8pm: Leisure 1 to Leisure 3 Medals
- Wednesday 8-9pm: Bronze and above
If your very first medal is with us then you will begin in the Leisure 1 category for each style Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue.
Is there a cut-off date?
Yes. The date range for joining the class is between January - August. After mid-august we close enrollment into this class to focus on preparing for the November exams.
How do I start?
We would love to have you participate in our examinations and you can start your first class with us now.
The fine print:
1 card is required per person dancing. By enrolling in the Medal Test class you will be issued with an 8 dance card which is non-refundable, non-redeemable for cash and expires within 6 months of purchase. You can pass the card on to a friend within that time period. Valid for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday Adult Group Classes only.Card is not valid for practice, socials or other events.
The card is valued at $200 but you can get yours for just $170 so for every eight classes you only pay for seven. (Save $30 per card)
